Uganda Gorilla Tours & Safaris is the highlight of Uganda the world over but also known as the ‘Pearl of Africa’, Uganda is one of the few African Countries with a rich biodiversity; characterized by a number of wildlife and plant species; magnificent landscape with the highest elevation at Margherita peak (5,109m), on Mt.Rwenzori (third highest Mountain in Africa), Kasese district, Western Uganda; a series of water bodies that range from rivers to lakes such as Lake Victoria which is the Largest lake in Africa shared by Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya.
Uganda’s prime destinations are the National Parks which are spread out in all the regions of the Country. There are 10 National Parks in Uganda which include Mt. Elgon National Park, Kidepo valley National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, Lake Mburo National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Semuliki National Park, Mt. Rwenzori National Park, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, and Kibale Forest National Park.
Gorilla Trekking Safari tours are only done in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national park as well as Mgahinga Gorilla Park in Uganda two are home to the endangered mountain Gorillas. The Two parks are home to over 420 Mountain gorillas, which is close to a half of the total world Gorilla population which is about 880 Mountain Gorillas. This primarily means that Uganda is the prime Gorilla tracking safari destination; with both Mgahinga and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Parks lying at the extreme South West of Uganda in districts of Kisoro and Kanungu respectively, along the borders with the Democratic Republic of Congo in the West, and Rwanda in the South.
Mgahinga National Park has one habituated group named Nyakagyezi while Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park featuresa count of 12 habituated groups in its four gorilla trekking regions of Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga and Nkuringo. Gorilla trekking safaris in Uganda must feature any of these two destinations for them to be complete. However, some have been extended according to the number of days one has got at his disposal to incorporate other adventures like wildlife viewing, cultural tours, adventure hikes and Chimpanzee trekking.
Our Uganda gorilla tours can depart from Kampala / Entebbe and end at the same though some end in Kigali Rwanda. However, they are open to modification and can be tailored to pick and drop you off at your preferred place.
